Eilish Jennings, of Norfolk Park, was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2016 when 34 weeks pregnant with twins and went on to have a double mastectomy and was told the treatment had been successful.

But she was dealt the devastating blow that cancer had returned last month - on the second birthday of her twin boys - and was told it was something that wasn't curable on the NHS.

Her devoted partner Simon Hobson launched a fundraising campaign to help raise £300,00 to fund treatment abroad and a staggering £130,000 has already flooded in, in just a month.

Sheffield's England cricket captain Joe Root has donated a pair of his signed gloves while snooker stars competing in the World Championships at the Crucible will take a break from the baize to attend a fundraising event tomorrow night.

Simon, 40, said: "The support has been amazing. There's that much going on that it's hard to keep up with it all to be honest.

"I just keep getting messages asking if people are okay to use pictures or if they're okay to hold an event to raise funds."

Youngsters at Monteney Primary School, where Eilish works as a teaching assistant, raised £518 while Simon said 'at least one' player or commentator from the ongoing snooker tournament in the city will be at the Sheffield Trades and Labour Club, Duke Street, on Thursday from 7pm.

Simon said Eilish, 36,, had now received two chemotherapy treatments and had also been to Portugal to see a specialist for a trial.

He added: "We are doing alright. She is a couple of chemotherapy treatments down the line now and due another next week. Then after that, she will have a scan and then hopefully we will get some results within a week.

"We took a massive positive from the Portugal trip. Eilish came back like a new person when she came back and we're hoping to visit there quite frequently."

Eilish said she was seeking treatment not available on the NHS so that she could her 'beautiful children' - Elise, Billy and Tom grow up.

She added: "I'm not ready to leave my children without a mother and I ask from the bottom of my heart and for the future of my wonderful family, please can everyone support, fundraise, donate and help me secure the treatment we so desperately need?"

A night of music and entertainment will also be held at Niagara South Yorkshire Police Sports and Social Club, Niagara Road, on Friday, May 4 from 7.30pm.

Gloria Stewart has organised the event, which will include live singers and a raffle an auction.
