Campaign launched in memory of Carl Buxton to help mental health charities

The popular and much-loved 19-year-old sadly died on Bakewell Road in Buxton in April.

His brother Shaun has now set up an online page to raise £5,000 which will be distributed between different mental health charities and support teams.

On the page, Shaun tells how his brother suffered with mental illness for three years.

He spent almost 12 months in hospital after suffering multiple injuries when he tried to commit suicide in November, 2013.

In the last few months of his life, he decided to start writing a book called Paranoid Mind State.

Mr Buxton tragically died when he was in collision with a van on Bakewell Road at about 2.30am on Tuesday, April 19.

Shaun said he is keen to raise awareness about the devastating effects of mental illness and help those who are struggling.

As previously reported, Mr Buxton’s family paid an emotional tribute to him, describing him as a ‘beautiful and joyful person’ who was left heartbroken after the passing of his mother ten years ago. They also thanked the people of Buxton for their support.

Flowers, messages and a teddy bear have been placed on Bakewell Road in tribute to Mr Buxton, who lived on Sherwood Road in the town.

Mr Buxton leaves his father John, brothers Dean and Shaun and many friends. His funeral took place on Monday.
