Campaign for young carers

Have your say

A BUDDING Sheffield politician has persuaded fellow members of the UK Youth Parliament to support his campaign for more help for young carers.

Harrison Carter, who represents Sheffield, is calling for assistance to young people who have to care for a sick parent or relative - so they are able to keep up with their schoolwork.

At a three-day annual summit of the UK Youth Parliament, Harrison was successful in his bid to have his young carers campaign accepted as part of the health manifesto that UKYP is to approve this year.

He said: “The Youth Parliament has given resounding support to this campaign and with the help of other social activists and fellow MYPs I intend to keep working to get this accepted and get Young Carers support they deserve.”
