A member of Rotherham Council’s Streetpride team has been named Construction Apprentice of the Year, at Doncaster College’s Apprentice Awards.
18-year-old Cameron Pilling, of Rawmarsh, started a Level 2 Road Maintenance apprenticeship at the Council six months ago, working four days a week within the Streetpride team, and studying on Tuesdays.
He said: “I really enjoy the work; it can be hard but the support is really good. You get told how things are done and, once you’ve seen it a few times, you can get stuck in and be really hands on.
“Hopefully I’ll be able to do further studying, with a view to going full-time and developing more within the council.”
The awards celebrate the exceptional contributions of employers and apprentices from across the region.
