Call for firms to enter awards which recognise region’s elite

Local companies have just over two weeks to submit their applications for a prestigious awards ceremony which will honour elite businesses in the Sheffield City Region.

The Barnsley and Rotherham Business Awards will recognise the achievements of around 40 companies and individuals at Rotherham’s Magna Science Adventure Centre on Friday, October 19..

The ceremony will see businesses do battle for 10 prestigious prizes, while the Royal Bank of Scotland Business of the Year trophy will go to an overall winner chosen from the outstanding performers in the other award categories.

There are 10 categories including the community impact award and the most promising start up.

Andrew Denniff, executive director at Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce, said: “We have already received a great response with many businesses submitting some superb entries and I would encourage any company out there to throw their hat into the ring and tell us why they deserve to be a winner.

“Despite the economic difficulties, many businesses in the City Region are excelling and merit recognition for these achievements.”

The final deadline for entries is Friday, September 14.

“Entries for the categories are open to all Barnsley and Rotherham businesses and any member of Barnsley & Rotherham Chamber of Commerce. The range of award categories caters for businesses of all sizes and sectors so businesses need to get their entries in and let us know great they are!”
