A CAFE in Sheffield is facing opposition over plans to sell alcohol and open later.

Julian Evans, of the Seashells Cafe on Abbey Road, Woodseats, wants to sell alcohol until 6pm on weekdays and until 11.30pm on Friday and Saturday nights. He currently opens until 4pm, six days a week.

Residents of Mitchell Road, off Abbey Road, have opposed the move, saying it will cause noise and disturbance.

Mr Evans’ application said: “Alcohol shall only be bottled or canned and only served to customers who are dining.”

Sheffield Council’s licensing board will decide on the application when it meets tomorrow.
