The white Hyundai crashed through railings, across the pavement and through the window of Cafe Ceres on Junction Road, Hunters Bar, in the early hours of Sunday.

Cafe Ceres Owner Caroline Strappazzon said the ordeal had made her feel a general anger towards anyone driving dangerously.

She said: "If anything goes wrong, it touches so many lives. And that makes me feel angry - it's unnecessary."

Mrs Strappazzon estimated that the cost of the damage would be 'tens of thousands of pounds' as a result of needing a new shopfront as well as having to close for three days.

But Mrs Strappazzon added that she and her husband are thankful for the 'awful lot of support' from friends as well as the general public.

"We are trying to focus on feeling positive," she said.

An engineer has declared the site safe to open and business is running as normal this morning.
