Cadets raising funds for ship

Have your say

SEA Cadets around South Yorkshire are raising funds to buy a new ship.

The TS Diomede unit, in Barnsley, has joined forces with groups of Sea Cadets across the country for the appeal to replace the vessel.

The current training ship, Royalist, which provides off-shore adventures for 1,500 cadets each year, is 40 years old.

Fundraising efforts by Barnsley Sea Cadets include Leading Cadet Roseanne Clark being sponsored to give up chocolate and junk food for lent.

The cadets are appealing for donations and help with fundraising.
