The sky’s the limit for two pupils at Mount St Mary’s College after they completed a prestigious Royal Air Force skills course.
RAF air cadets Alistair McInulty and Joseph Watson were the first ever pupils to represent the school, at Spinkhill on the outskirts of Sheffield, on the highly competitive Eastern Area Leadership Training Level One course.
The event was held at the RAF base in Wittering, Cambridgeshire.
During the two-day course, Alistair, from Bolsover, and Joseph, from Rotherham, learnt vital leadership and teamwork skills.
The 15-year-olds also had the opportunity to practise these skills by taking charge of the flight or by leading the flight in a command task.
Alistair said: “The weekend was jam-packed with good fun from the moment we arrived on Friday to the moment we left on Sunday. It was a great experience and both Joseph and I had the opportunity to learn new things which we wouldn’t otherwise have known.
“Now that I’ve completed level one I can’t wait to go back and get started on training for level two.”
The training courses are designed to prepare cadets for junior and senior leadership courses.
Alistair is currently a Cadet but Joseph is already a Lance Corporal in the air cadets.
