Cadets call for new members

Have your say

A CALL to arms has been issued for teenagers seeking an exciting challenge.

Barnsley Royal Marines Cadets, Racecommon Road, Barnsley, is appealing for new members.

Caroline Devonport, commanding officer, said: “If you want to try your hand at awesome activities such as camouflage and concealment, sailing, abseiling and rock climbing, field craft, weapons training, power boating and kayaking, then come and see us.

“Being a member of the Royal Marines Cadets means much more than just being a part of a group, it’s a way of life. You’ll learn self-discipline, make lifelong mates, show great teamwork and most of all, have fun doing it.”

The cadets group, open to people aged 13 to 18, is holding an open event for anyone considering joining, on Thursday, from 6.45pm.
