Cabbies on customer care course

Cabbies are being encouraged to enrol on what is believed to be the country’s first NVQ in Road Passenger Transport when it is launched later this month.

It will cover customer care, disability awareness, equal opportunities - and local knowledge on attractions, events, and places to visit in Doncaster.

Already 25 hackney and private hire vehicle drivers have taken part in a pilot project which will gain them a nationally-recognised qualification.

Marian Beecroft, head of business education systems training at Doncaster College, said: “We are proud to work with Doncaster Council on a project which provides a worthwhile and nationally recognised qualification for hackney and private hire vehicle drivers.”
