Buyers sought at Sheffield hotel on the market for £4m

The four-star venue has been placed on the market on behalf of the private investors who have owned the asset for the past eight years.

Colliers International and Bilfinger GVA, the firms handling the sale, say they are ‘inviting substantial offers’, in the region of £4 million, for the long leasehold interest.

The hotel ‘has the potential to be branded’, the agents believe.

Built in 1800 and formerly the Central Technical School for boys, the Grade II- listed building was restored and converted into a boutique hotel in 2007.

Julian Troup, head of the UK Hotels Agency at Colliers, said: “The Leopold Hotel is Sheffield’s only four-star boutique hotel and attracts business from Sheffield’s corporate market, together with tourist and function-related business. The hotel has good quality room stock and facilities and is well-positioned to compete in the local market place.

“The hotel has the potential to be branded, which could enable a purchaser to enhance the earnings and profitability of the business.”

The Leopold has 89 rooms, a bar, restaurant and fitness suite, as well as conferencing and wedding facilities.
