Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce is calling on Chancellor of the Exchequer George Orborne to introduce policies to support business and encourage growth in his forthcoming Budget.
The call came from Chamber executive director Andrew Denniff after the British Chambers of Commerce downgraded its forecast for UK economic growth, but said it believed a ‘double dip’ recession could be avoided. Businesses across the city region were doing their utmost to find new markets and grow their firms, despite the difficult economic challenges they face, said Mr Denniff.
“We will look towards measures in the Budget that will encourage firms to export, invest and grow; with real deregulation, a simply easy-to-use planning system, improving the flow of credit to firms, and improving our lacklustre infrastructure and skills.
“These are the measures businesses want to see.” he added.
