Business Monthly: Magazine unites best of business

The impressive Cutlers’ Hall in Sheffield is the location for a round table discussion, in partnership with law firm Taylor&Emmet, on the travails of manufacturers and the EU referendum.

The in-out vote in June is acting as a brake on confidence for businesses which take a long term view - such as manufacturers planning to spend big money on equipment.

China may be unpopular due to steel dumping, but as the largest economy in the world - a place where 12,000 new enterprises are registered every day - it is impossible to ignore. The magazine has a feature on a China-Britain Business Council meeting in Sheffield. Boss Keith Jackson tells magazine editor David Walsh about the long road to building business relationships and gaining regulatory approval for its replacements hips - and the potential for ‘exponential’ growth in a country with 1.3billion residents.

Barnsley’s improving fortunes and the opening of the Great Yorkshire Way to Doncaster Airport also get a mention, as does Vita Students’ £42million revamp of Telephone House in Sheffield city centre to create four-star accommodation for scholars.
