Bus firm to the rescue after Sheffield Scout hut burgled

A generous donation from a South Yorkshire bus company has put smiles on the faces of a local Scout group after their Sheffield base was burgled.

Bus operator Stagecoach donated 50 basil plants to the 231st Sheffield Shiregreen Scout Group after thieves stole gardening equipment from their hut on Barnsley Road.

The company’s Ecclesfield depot is close to the scouts’ base, and many of their staff are residents in Shiregreen.

Paul Lynch, managing director of Stagecoach, said: “We were devastated to hear the news of the break in to the Scouts’ hut.

“I hope that our donation goes some way to helping replenish what was taken.”
