CYCLIST safety in South Yorkshire has been placed high on the agenda by bus company First as part of a month-long initiative to promote safety.

The company has met up with professional cycle training firm Pedal Ready to draw up dos and don’ts for its drivers when near cyclists.

All the company’s drivers will be reminded of the importance of cyclist safety as part of ongoing training.

The company is also trialling safety stickers on the sides of its buses to encourage cyclists to be careful near buses. The cycling safety initiative is part of First’s Passenger Safety Month, designed to highlight to passengers and staff the things people can do to ensure they stay safe.

A ‘stay seated’ card will encourage passengers to stay seated until buses have pulled up at stops.
