Burst water main causes Sheffield street closure

Police closed off a large section of Glossop Road, Sheffield, yesterday morning following a burst water main.

Yorkshire Water confirmed a nine inch burst water main had caused parts of the road to blow and flooding to occur, leading to traffic diversions.

Water could been seen flowing down Brusnwick Street, Durham Road and Glossop Road past The Harley pub and onto the Upper Hanover Street dual carriageway.

Yorkshire Water duty manager John Fenwick said a team had been sent to assess and repair the damage, with hopes of reopening the road as soon as possible.
