Burglar jailed after Peak District homeowners catch him red handed

A burglar who was caught red handed by homeowners has been jailed for two-and-a-half-years.

Daniel White was found by the owners of a house and garage in Castleton Road, Hathersage, in the early hours of September 2.

He was breaking into the garage. The homeowners detained White until police arrived.

The 34-year-old, of Selwyn Street, Rotherham, admitted burglary and was sentenced at Derby Crown Court last Friday.

He was jailed for two years and four months for the burglary and two months for breaching a suspended sentence imposed by Rotherham magistrates' court for theft in August.
