CHILDREN at Lound Infant School in Chapeltown set themselves a royal challenge for the Diamond Jubilee.
They wanted to produce enough bunting to decorate the local streets and churchyard.
And they used almost anything – old clothes, curtains, plastic bags, pyjamas, string, shoe laces, washing lines and even disused telephone wires to do it.
The bunting zigzagged down Housley Park, along the railings, through the churchyard and finally, across the main road.
Sarah Smith, of Friends of Lound Infant School, said: “The support from the local residents and businesses in allowing us to do this has been truly incredible.
“We would like to thank everyone for their kind contributions to this wonderful achievement.”
The youngsters paraded in their Jubilee fancy dress outfits along the bunting route and enjoyed a ‘Big Lunch’.
