ROTHERHAM’S mayor had a spring in his step when he planted the first bulb in the town’s new Field Of Hope.
Coun Shaun Wright visited Clifton Park, where Marie Cure Cancer Care has set up a spot where people touched by cancer can plant a daffodil - the charity’s emblem.
The aim is to give locals a peaceful place to remember loved ones. Dedications for each daffodil planted are recorded in an official Remembrance Book kept in the park’s Garden House.
The scheme has already generated £685 in donations from the public.
Wentworth Garden Centre, Spalding UK, Fosters Garden Centre and Clifton Park donated daffodil bulbs and equipment used to create the Field Of Hope.
