Budget ‘helped the rich’ - MP

Have your say

A SOUTH YORKSHIRE MP has condemned the Government’s Budget as one for a ‘rich man’ not local families.

Wentworth and Dearne MP John Healey, a former Treasury minister, criticised decisions to freeze the personal allowance for over 65s, cut the 50p tax rate for those earning over £150,000 and end working tax credits for part-time workers.

Mr Healey said that in South Yorkshire, the Government’s actions were ‘hurting but not working’.
