A Stagecoach bus broke down on Leopold Street as early morning commuters and shoppers were making their way into Sheffield city centre.
The breakdown led to a closure of the street until repairs were carried out to the stricken vehicle.
Other buses which normally use Leopold Street were diverted along Arundel Gate and Furnival Gate on outbound journeys and via West Street, Carver Street and Furnival Gate until the broken down bus was roadworthy again.
Joe Gilchrist, engineering director at Stagecoach Yorkshire, said: “A number 87 bus failed in service on Leopold Street at 8.15am when the vehicle’s power cut out.
“The bus was recovered as quickly as possible and the road was clear by 11am.”
