British Red Cross's Giggle Aid comes back to the city

A host of comedy heroes will be arriving in the city next month, to take part in The British Red Cross's Giggle Aid event.

James Acaster, Junior Simpson and Stuart Goldsmith are just a few of the names on the lineup for the fundraising evenning, to be held in The Platinum Suite of SUFC’s Bramall Lane on December 11.

British Red cross senior community fundraiser Helen Whale said: “Giggle Aid is my favourite event of the year. It’s always a sell-out, and people are ‘popping’ with laughter by the end of the evening.

“Our line up just keeps getting better year after year. James Acaster is a comedy regular on just about every panel show you can name, and one of the sharpest comic minds to have emerged in recent years.

“Junior Simpson has appeared on Top Gear, and Never Mind The Buzzcocks, and had headed up festivals in Leeds and Reading.

“Welsh-born Jenny Collier has performed all over the globe - in Hong Kong, Singapore, Switzerland and Australia - and has become a regular on several BBC Radio features.

“Stuart Goldsmith, winner of the ‘Spirit of the Festival’ Award in the 2013 New Zealand International Comedy Festival, is currently on his sixth solo tour.

And last but not least, President Obonjo, the UK’s only dictator, who will draw upon his alter ego’s experiences as a British Nigerian to induct you to the Lafta Republic. My own mum almost cried when I told her President Obonjo is coming!

“We’re looking to sell out this evening of entertainment, and with tickets going for only £20, you will definitely be getting the last laugh here.”
