WHAT a brilliant idea by Veolia to bring in waste to burn at the incinerator.
Sadly it misses one very important ingredient: to save even more on the environmental impact we should make it a condition to bring in the waste by train. Most of the infrastructure is already in place, including a direct link to all four towns. A receiving yard and small spur may have to be provided but think of all the lorries it would be kept of the roads but the way the railway system works is to put it out to tender and the successful applicant supplies engines and rolling stock.
This is surely a more, environmentally friendly solution. After all London removes all their refuge by rail, but sadly to landfill sites.
