BREAKING: Twelve people taken to hospital after four-car pile-up in North Derbyshire

The incident happened on Bolsover Road, Mastin Moor, near Staveley, shortly before 3.30pm this afternoon.

One of the people injured had to be cut out of his car by firefighters and was taken to hospital by helicopter.

The other 11 people injured, described by firefighters as ‘walking wounded’, were also taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service said firefighters had left the scene at around 5.50pm.

The road is expected to remain closed for ‘some time’ by police following the incident.
