BREAKING: Truck and car overturned on snowy link road from Sheffield to Manchester
A major road connecting Sheffield to Manchester has been closed this morning after a truck and car overturned in snowy conditions.
The section of the A57 known as Snake Pass is notorious for accidents during poor weather conditions.
The AA has reported: "Road closed due to rolled over truck and snow on A57 both ways between Hurst Road and A6013. Road is now fully closed due to poor driving conditions."
Derbyshire Police said a truck with a trailer overturned at around 10.15am.
The trailer is now blocking the road.
No other vehicles were involved and no one was injured, the police said.
In a separate incident, a Citreon C2 flipped onto its roof two miles out of Glossop on its way to Sheffield.
No serious injuries were reported and no other cars were involved, the police said.
A Derbyshire Police spokesperson said: "We are not in a position to advise when the road will re-open. We will keep giving updates but people should avoid the area if they can."
Jane Oldfield, from Sheffield, has identified the Citreon as her son Leroy Williamson's.
She said: "Miraculously he OK. Someone up there looking out for him."
