A MASSIVE tree has toppled over on to a Sheffield street, smashing a car and damaging two other vehicles.
The huge poplar tree collapsed on to Broomhall Road, opposite Sheffield Hallam University’s Robert Winston Building, at around midday today, crushing the back of a black Vauxhall car.
Crowds of onlookers gathered to survey the aftermath and council tree surgeons were called out to cut the mature tree into pieces, ready for removal.
The road was closed while the debris was cleared and police officers controlled traffic at the scene.
