A teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a 17-year-old was shot in the leg with an air weapon.

The victim sustained minor injuries after the incident on Adlington Road, Parson Cross, yesterday and is no longer in hospital.

Police say the incident is not linked to the fatal shooting of Grant Bodell, aged 23, on wasteland off Queen Mary Road, Manor, on Saturday morning.

Officers have arrested a male, also 17, on suspicion of attempted murder, dangerous driving and driving without a licence in connection with the Parson Cross incident.

He is being questioned by detectives today.

A police spokesman added: “Detectives do not believe this is related to a separate incident on the Manor.”

“Enquiries are ongoing.”

Witnesses, or anybody with information, should call police on 101 quoting incident number 754 of June 21.
