BREAKING: Sheffield road closed after 'serious' crash, reported to be a hit-and-run

A road in Sheffield has been closed following a 'serious' crash, with reports a driver ran from the scene.

Firth Park Road, in Firth Park, has been closed by police following the collision.

It is not known yet what vehicle or vehicles were involved, or whether anyone has been injured.

One person wrote on Facebook: "Serious crash at bottom of Hamilton road on Firth Park Road. Driver ran from scene."

The incident is believed to have happened at around 1pm today.

Travel companies have said diversions are in place, with passengers and drivers warned to expect delays.

First South Yorkshire said shortly after 2pm that the 38 and 38a bus services were operating via Firth Park Avenue, Hinde House Lane, Hinde House Crescent and Wensley Street in both directions.
