Sheffield city centre singer Gwendolyn Roomes has been deported to Jamaica, despite a huge swell of support from Sheffield residents.
Gwen, aged 59, who is renowned for singing hymns in the city, boarded a flight at London Gatwick at 12.15pm today.
Her application to stay in the UK - where two of her children and three grandchildren live - was rejected by the Home Office less than an hour before her flight departed.
Gwen is due to land in the capital Kingston tonight.
