BREAKING NEWS: Dozens of people injured in M1 coach crash

At least 36 people have been injured in a coach crash on the M1 this afternoon.

Seven people were taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital by minibus.

Three others were also taken to the Chesterfield hospital, and another was taken by Air Ambulance tp Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham.

Seventeen patients were taken from the scene to a place of safety by the emergency services

Several vehicles and a coach, operated by National Holidays, were involved in the pile up on the M1 South between Junction 29 and 29A.

An air ambulance was also on scene to extract casualties involved in the collision.

The southbound section of the M1 has been closed at Junction 30 while police and fire crews continue to work at the scene.

Motorists have been warned to avoid the area.
