A manhunt is underway for a rapist who attacked a 12-year-old girl in Sheffield.

He struck on land overlooking a golf course close to Lees Hall Road, Meersbrook.

His victim, who was 12 at the time of the attack in September 2015, came forward to report the offence last month.

Officers investigating the rape have issued an E-fit of a man they want to trace.

Detective Constable Gemma Crossland, the investigating officer, said: “Extensive inquiries are ongoing and I’d now like to ask for your help in tracing the man pictured in this E-fit image. We believe he could hold vital information.

“If you recognise him, or know who he could be, please call us on 101. Similarly, if you know anything about the incident, please come forward.”
