BREAKING: Fire leads to partial closure of busy Sheffield road

Firefighters are tackling a blaze at a business in Penistone Road, Sheffield.

The northbound carriageway was closed this morning between Leppings Lane and Fox Hill Road, in Hillsborough, following what police described as a fire caused by an electrical fault at a commercial premises.

Police said they were called to the A61 Penistone Road by South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue at around 11am, and the road remained closed northbound at 11.45am.

A police spokesman said the fire brigade was still investigating and it was not known how long the road closure would remain in place.
