BREAKING: Armed robber threatened Sheffield betting office staff with knife

A man armed with a knife escaped with cash after threatening staff in a Sheffield betting shop.

He struck at Betfred in Northern Avenue, Arbourthorne, at around 9.50pm yesterday.

The man was white, short and was wearing a navy blue coat with the hood up. He also had something covering his face.

South Yorkshire Police said nobody was injured in the incident.

A force spokeswoman said: "It was reported to police a man entered the Betfred shop on Northern Avenue, Sheffield, armed with what is believed to have been a knife and threatened members of staff, before making off with a quantity of cash.

"No-one was hurt or injured in the incident.

"Police are currently investigating the incident and would like to speak to anyone who may have seen the reported robbery, or who was in the area at the time."
