Seven-year-old Amber Whiston, who has a brain tumour, has been chosen as the face of a national fundraising campaign for the children and young people’s cancer support organisation CLIC Sargent.

In the run up to Christmas, Amber, who is supported by the charity, is appearing on posters in H Samuel, Ernest Jones, and Leslie Davis stores nationwide.

The brave youngster is helping to publicise Jasper the CLIC Sargent Bear, a plush teddy being sold by the stores to raise money for the charity’s work supporting young cancer patients and their families.

Amber and her mum Lara also star in a short online film for the campaign where they explain how the support of the CLIC Sargent team, who have a base at Sheffield Children’s Hospital, has helped them through some of their hardest times.

Lara said: “Amber has been through a lot – she’s had years of operations, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and scans, and has lost the sight in her left eye. But she’s a beautiful little girl inside and out who just keeps going and we couldn’t be prouder of her.”

Amber said: “I like Jasper because he’s really soft. I chose his name and I drew the picture of the paw on his label. We went to Meadowhall on a Jasper hunt, I saw my picture up in H Samuel and talked to the ladies there.” To get your own Jasper bear, go to your local H.Samuel, Ernest Jones or Leslie Davis store. Jasper the CLIC Sargent bear is priced at £9.99, with all profits going to CLIC Sargent.
