LET’S get ready to Zumba!
That was the message to more than 200 people who attended the biggest zumba party South Yorkshire has seen.
Organised by Dinnington and Bramley-based Inter Shape Studios, the fundraising party was staged at The Consort Hotel, Thurcroft, Rotherham.
Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance fitness programme created in the 1990s, which involves following music with repetitive movements and incorporates hip-hop, samba, salsa, merengue, mambo, martial arts, and some Bollywood and belly dance moves.
Guest of honour was hero paratrooper Ben Parkinson, who was severely injured in Afghanistan. Ben, from Doncaster, said he was pleased the event raised more than £1,500 for charity Help For Heroes.
A spokesman for the event said: “Ben is an inspiration to so many. It was great to see him there. As well as everyone taking part in the Zumba dances, guests were impressed by a performance from Inter Shape dancers and the dance troupe Beattatudes.”
The event was such a success it’s to be repeated monthly.
