Brass bands blowing their own trumpets at top contest

Three brass bands will be blowing their own trumpets when they battle it out for a prestigious prize in at Dronfield.

The Matlock Band, Ireland Colliery (Chesterfield) Band and Shirebrook Miners Welfare (Unison) Band will take centre stage as they take part in North East Derbyshire District Council’s 
56th Annual Brass Band Festival at Dronfield Sports Centre.

They will be vying for this year’s T H Hallworth Challenge Trophy and top cash prize at the concert on Saturday, September 13.

Coun Tracy Reader said: “We have three great bands on show and it promises to be an evening packed full of entertainment and great music.”

Doors open at 6.30pm and the festival starts at 7.30pm. Tickets are £4.50 for adults, £3.50 for pensioners and can be bought on the evening or by phoning Claire Shacklady on 01246 217003.
