THEY’RE more used to people taking bras out from lingerie shop Evelyn’s Den.
But at the moment people are bringing them in as well after the Bircotes shop launched an appeal for old bras to raise money for the Against Breast Cancer charity appeal.
Last year Eveleyn’s, based on Milne Road, ran a similar appeal for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. They were keen to try again this year.
Shop owner Trish Edwards said: “The current appeal has only just started.
“But last year we helped the air ambulance and our customers brought in a tonne-and-a-half of bras.
“They were worth about £1,500 to the charity. They sent us a certificate with the details of how much was raised.
“People seem very pleased to have somewhere to take their old bras.”
When they have been collected, the bras which are sill in good enough condition to be worn are sold on to developing counties.
If they are not in good enough condition they are sold off for their scrap material value instead.
Trish said people can drop their bras off at the shop.
But if people have a large number they may be able to collect them.
