A BOY is in hospital with a broken leg and head injuries after riding his bike into a car in Barnsley.

The 10-year-old was riding his bike when he cycled from a side road into the path of a car travelling along William Street.

Police said he struck the nearside of a silver Vauxhall Corsa, driven by a 23-year-old woman, at 7.25pm on Thursday.

The youngster was taken to Barnsley District General Hospital for treatment.
