A teenage boy was killed in a hit-and-run in Derbyshire.

The 14-year-old, who has not yet been named, was on a child's scooter which was involved in a collision with a black Ford Fusion in Fordbridge Lane, South Normanton, just before 8pm yesterday.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of a collision and being unfit to drive through drink or drugs.

He remains in custody and will be questioned today.
