Boy, 11, injured on crossing by hit and run driver

POLICE are hunting a hit and run driver who failed to stop after knocking down a young boy on a pelican crossing.

The 11-year-old boy was crossing the Balby Road dual carriageway at the junction with Carr Hill, Balby, Doncaster, when he was hit at 5pm yesterday.

He suffered a fractured knee cap, bruised ribs, cuts and grazes but the driver failed to stop.

A member of the public who witnesses the collision chased after the car but it drove off.

Officers investigating the incident want to hear from the passer-by who chased the car and anyone else who saw what happened.
