Boxing: Sam Sheedy loses to Tommy Langford
Sheffield's Sam Sheedy lost a split decision verdict to Birmingham-based Tommy Langford tonight as the pair locked horns for the vacant BBBofC British middleweight title, at the Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff.
Langford, 27, with clean record of 17 straight wins, did the better work at the start.
Promoter Francis Warren regards Langford “already at world level” but his man started to struggle with Wisewood’s Sheedy, 28, (previously W17 L1) as the fight progressed into the second half.
It seemed like it was anybody’s fight in the last round - but two of the judges clearly felt Langford had been the busier.
Two judges gave it to Langford 117-113 and 116-114, another to Sheedy 115-113.

Sheedy said he was “gutted” by the defeat, but said he had learned from his first 12-round experience.
*Sheedy’s trainer Glyn Rhodes was warned several times for his conduct in the corner during the championship battle.
*Ingle boxer Kid Galahad (Barry Awad) brushed up his skills with a third round TKO of severely limited Nicaraguan Reynaldo Mora, on the undercard.
Switching Galahad had his opponent down with a left hand in the second round, and twice again with body shots in the third.
