A BUSINESSMAN who illegally used a former greyhound track as a waste disposal site has been ordered to do 120 hours of community service and pay £10,000 in court costs.
Richard Cannon, aged 43, of Ankerbold Road, Tupton, Chesterfield, used two sites he controls to dispose waste, without the correct permits.
Cannon, director of Cannon Contractors Ltd and property company Chesterfield Sports Stadium Ltd, owns a former greyhound track on Station Road, Chesterfield and manages the former GKN site at Sheepbridge industrial estate.
Magistrates heard he used both sites to dump, treat and dispose of rubbish including plastic windows and doors, aerosols and oil filters.
Cannon admitted breaching environmental laws and was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
