Bookies envisage no FA Cup problems for Owls at Shrews

The FA up takes centre stage this weekend, creating another opportunity for one of those yearned-for upsets capable of cheering the nation's football fans.

Bookies remain convinced that the eventual FA Cup winners will emerge from a small clutch of teams – Manchester City are Ladbrokes’ 5/1 favourites, with Arsenal and Chelsea both priced at 11/2 by Stan James, the fourth round ties could witness some unexpected results.

Could it happen at Shrewsbury, where the home side host Sheffield Wednesday?

William Hill think not, installing the Owls as their 11/10 favourites to make the fifth round at the first attempt. Shrewsbury, by contrast, kick off priced as Betfred’s lengthy-looking 14/5 underdogs, while the draw is offered at an eye-catching 13/5 by BetVictor.com.

Few expect anything other than a Wednesday victory, which explains the popularity of bet365’s 7/5 odds for them to win when kicking off with a one-goal deficit. Skybet expect the Owls to lead from the front and chalk 6/4 about them being ahead at 45 and at 90 minutes. Paddy Power rate Wednesday as their 4/6 favourites to open the scoring, while a 1-0 away win is rated a 13/2 shot by Winner.com.

It’s not difficult to see why Rotherham and Saturday’s opponents Charlton are battling against relegation in League One. Both sides drew at the weekend, but the pair have registered just one win between them in their last dozen outings.

Rotherham kick off Saturday’s classic six-pointer as BetVictor’s clear 11/10 favourites to harvest three valuable points. Charlton’s away form has been dire and the 13/5 offered by Skybet for them to win looks like a bet designed solely for diehard fans of the London team.

Barnsley are priced as Stan James’s 5/2 outsiders at Swindon. A massive 7/1 is offered by William Hill for Barnsley to take three points following a drawn opening half.
