Residents were evacuated from their homes when a man arrested by police claimed there was a bomb in his car.
Officers were called to Victoria Street, Clay Cross, in the early hours of yesterday to deal with reports of a suspicious car in the street. When they arrested two men at the car, one claimed there was a bomb inside.
The Army Bomb Disposal Squad was called and police cordoned off nearby streets.
A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said: “Police are treating the incident as a hoax.”
