BOMB ALERT: Police find 'crude improvised explosive device' at Sheffield house

A 'crude improvised explosive device' has been found at a house in Sheffield, following a bomb alert over the weekend.

Police said the improvised explosive device was discovered last night

Police were called to a home on Abbey Lane, in Beauchief, on Saturday evening, after receiving information to suggest there may be a bomb at the property.

A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police today said a 28-year-old man had been bailed, while an 18-year-old woman and a second man, aged 20, have been released under investigation.

"Officers are continuing their enquiries into the isolated incident after lifting the police cordon at 10pm yesterday, after a crude improvised explosive device had been recovered," he added.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting the incident number 883 of March 3.
