Body of man, 21, in river

A MAN aged 21 has died after falling through a hedge outside a Derbyshire nightclub and into a river below.

The man was pulled from the River Derwent in Matlock Bath in the early hours of Saturday morning but efforts to revive him failed.

A Derbyshire Police spokeswoman said officers were called to the rear car park of the Pavilion nightclub in Matlock Bath just after 2am.

“A 21-year-old male had fallen through a hedge and down banking into the River Derwent,” she said.

“The man was recovered from the river but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful. Next of kin have been informed.”
