AN investigation has been launched after a man’s body was discovered in a South Yorkshire woodland.

Police were called to Dyke Wood, near Wood Lane, Treeton, Rotherham, at 7.30am on Monday.

They discovered the body of a 28-year-old local man.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: “The death does not appear to be suspicious.”

The Rotherham coroner has been made aware of the incident.

A spokesman said: “The death has been referred to the coroner and enquiries are ongoing at this time to establish the man’s identity and the cause of death.

“Once that has been established that will determine whether or not there will be an inquest.”
