A bonanza of blushing brides battled it out to catch the bouquet at a unique charity event in Sheffield.

The Brides Ball in aid of Breast Cancer Care attracted more than 100 brides wearing a variety of wedding dresses to the Niagara Conference and Leisure Centre in Niagara Road, Wadsley Bridge.

Organised by Fiona Hodgkinson, the event offered a star prize which went to the lucky lass who caught a bouquet tossed in traditional fashion over the shoulder by local councillor Sheila Constance.

Her fellow councillor Jackie Satur joined in by drawing the raffle.

Between them the brides raised £940 for the charity.
