Sheffield MP David Blunkett has rubbished ‘inaccurate’ claims alleging his earnings total £300,000.
In a newspaper article, it was claimed the Labour veteran, who represents Brightside and Hillsborough, earned £300,000 in 2012/13, the most of any MP in Yorkshire.
But Mr Blunkett said the total was actually £173,000 including his £66,000 MP’s salary - and said the report had counted some earnings twice.
“I give the bulk of the money to chairty or the Labour Party,” he said.
Mr Blunkett said his £99,000 annual earnings from News International ceased in June. His other earnings for 2012/13 included £20,000 as a lecturer for the London School of Business and Finance, £20,000 from Easyjet, £20,000 from public speaking, £20,000 from other newspaper columns and £5,000 for advising an investment firm.
Sheffield Heeley MP Meg Munn earned £29,400 as an advisor for Global Partners Governance, which promotes democracy in developing countries.
